Food & Beverage

Operating 24/7, food and beverage plants rely on pasteurization lines, filling systems, and cold storage facilities where downtime is simply not an option. Hino Systech Vietnam provides power monitoring systems, SCADA, and solar energy integration seamlessly synchronized from electrical panels to software.

Challenges facing your business

  • Instantaneous Voltage Sags, Chiller System Harmonics, and EVN Compliance Pressures

UHT pasteurization lines, aseptic filling systems, and CIP (Clean-In-Place) equipment are exceptionally sensitive to instantaneous voltage sags—where even a brief voltage fluctuation can ruin an entire production batch. Meanwhile, cold storage chiller systems, AHUs, and high-power inverter motors continuously generate harmonics, pulling the power factor (cosφ) below mandatory regulatory thresholds and incurring reactive power penalties from EVN.

  • Manual Logging, Fragmented Systems, and a Lack of Real-Time Data

In many F&B plants, power data for boilers, cold storage facilities, and filling lines is still manually recorded by staff on a shift-by-shift basis. Furthermore, meters, electrical panels, and solar inverters from various manufacturers operate as isolated data "islands." Without centralized real-time data, the technical team cannot detect abnormal trends before incidents occur, and management lacks the necessary basis to allocate electricity costs per production line or individual product.

  • Product Scrap from Line Stoppages, Escalating OPEX, and Order Fulfillment Risks

A sudden line stoppage in the food industry causes far more than lost production volume: raw materials remaining in pipelines must be flushed and discarded, the entire line requires re-cleaning via CIP (Clean-In-Place) under HACCP standards before restarting, and temperature loss in cold storage threatens inventory quality.

Corrective maintenance costs (OPEX) steadily rise as equipment ages, while every hour of unplanned downtime pushes the factory toward potential delivery delays, compromising credibility with retail chains and export partners.

Our approach

  • 1

Continuous Power Quality Monitoring and Automatic Capacitor Bank Control

The Hino Systech system continuously measures and monitors power quality parameters—voltage, current, harmonics, and power factor (cosφ)—at the main switchboard and individual distribution panels. When cosφ trends below the required threshold, the controller automatically switches capacitor bank steps to maintain a stable power factor in compliance with EVN regulations. This limits reactive power penalties and mitigates the impact of harmonics generated by chiller systems and inverters on sensitive production line equipment.

A Single Gateway — Synchronizing Multi-Brand Devices to EVN and SCADA

The Hino Gateway 378 acts as a multi-protocol bridge: it collects data from multi-brand meters, inverters, and PLCs (Siemens, Schneider, ABB, etc.) via Modbus TCP/IP and converts it to IEC 60870-5-104 for transmission to EVN's dispatch system, operating in strict compliance with Decision 378/QD-EVN.

Simultaneously, all data is synchronized to the plant's centralized SCADA system. This ensures that legal obligations and internal management needs are fulfilled seamlessly on a single infrastructure, eliminating the need to invest in two separate systems.

  • 3

    Protection Algorithms & Early Warning

Raw field data is continuously analyzed by the system to detect early signs of anomalies—voltage fluctuations, load current spikes, and electrical panel over-temperature. Instant alerts are sent via SMS/Email to designated personnel, enabling the technical team to intervene before an issue escalates into a line stoppage, rather than discovering the failure only after a product batch has been ruined.

Hino Systech Data Collection & Control Architecture

Hino Systech system solution details

  • Japanese Quality Standards Backed by a Group with Over 70 Years of Experience

Hino Systech Vietnam is a 100% Japanese-owned company, inheriting the rigorous quality control processes of its parent company, Hino Systech Japan, established in 1950. Electrical panels and control systems are designed, assembled, and tested by a team of over 20 engineers trained and experienced in Japan. By utilizing industrial-grade components and construction procedures that prioritize noise immunity, the system safeguards operations against a critical challenge in F&B plant environments dense with inverters and heavy-duty motors.

  • Synchronized Hardware Architecture & Solar Integration Capabilities

Hino Systech delivers an end-to-end synchronized solution—from field measurement devices, control panels, and Gateways to the SCADA Server—designed and managed under single-source responsibility.

For plants equipped with solar installations, the system supports hybrid load-following algorithms for parallel operation alongside generators and the grid (proven in practice at the Sapporo Long An project, ~706 kWp), independent anti-reverse power relays, and Zero-Export configurations, ensuring maximum solar yield utilization within the framework of Decree 58/2025/ND-CP.

  • Reduced Operational Expenses, Predictive Maintenance, and Accelerated ROI

With automated power data collection and monitoring, plants eliminate the bulk of manual logging and power inspection labor while transitioning from reactive troubleshooting to data-trend-based predictive maintenance—reducing OPEX and unplanned downtime. For CFOs, the business case is clear: electricity costs are controlled per production line, cosφ penalties are eliminated, and payback periods across the entire system are shortened as production losses drop from the very first months of operation.
