Japanese FDI Plants in Vietnam
Japanese FDI plants in Vietnam operate under a dual framework: the stringent quality and reporting standards of their parent companies in Japan, and the domestic power regulatory framework in Vietnam. Hino Systech Vietnam—a 100% Japanese-owned company backed by an engineering team trained in Japan—provides power monitoring systems, SCADA, and solar energy integration that fulfill both […]
Challenges facing your business
-
The Gap Between Japanese Corporate Standards and Vietnamese Power Regulations
Parent companies in Japan demand absolute power quality stability for high-precision production lines. Meanwhile, electrical infrastructure across Vietnamese industrial zones presents potential voltage fluctuations, harmonics, and low power factors (cosφ), resulting in reactive power penalties from EVN. For factories investing in rooftop solar power under corporate carbon-neutrality directives, grid connection procedures and power operation regulations in Vietnam (such as Decree 58/2025/ND-CP) differ significantly from the processes familiar to Japanese technical teams—requiring a partner thoroughly versed in both systems.

Headquarters Demands Precise Data, Yet Plants Rely on Manual Logging
Japanese management culture is built on a foundation of precise data and transparent periodic reporting. However, at many FDI plants, power metrics are still recorded manually shift-by-shift and aggregated in fragmented spreadsheets before being submitted to Japan.
Because meters, inverters, and equipment from various manufacturers are not interconnected, data reconciliation consumes days of labor during every reporting period. Consequently, headquarters lacks the means to monitor the actual, real-time operational status of their facilities in Vietnam.
-
Unplanned Downtime: Production Losses and Credibility Risks in Japanese Supply Chains
Japanese FDI plants are typically critical nodes in a corporate global just-in-time (JIT) supply chain: a single hour of unplanned downtime leads not only to lost production output but also directly disrupts delivery schedules across other plants in the network. Operational expenses (OPEX) steadily escalate when maintenance relies on a reactive troubleshooting model, while electricity cost-reduction and emission targets handed down from corporate headquarters grow increasingly stringent. Lacking actionable data, plant managers are left without the necessary tools to demonstrate performance and results to HQ.
Technology-Driven Solutions from Hino Systech
Our approach
-
1
Continuous Power Quality Monitoring and Automatic cosφ Stabilization
The Hino Systech system continuously monitors voltage, current, harmonics, and power factor (cosφ) at the plant's main switchboards and distribution panels. The automatic controller manages capacitor bank step-switching to maintain cosφ in full compliance with EVN standards, eliminating reactive power penalties and safeguarding high-precision equipment against harmonic interference—ensuring power quality that aligns with the standards familiar to technical teams at manufacturing facilities in Japan.

2
A Single Data Infrastructure — Serving Both EVN and Headquarters in Japan
The Hino Gateway 378 collects data from multi-brand meters, inverters, and PLCs (Siemens, Schneider, ABB, etc.) via Modbus TCP/IP and converts it to IEC 60870-5-104, enabling connection with the power utility's grid dispatch system upon request.
That exact same dataset is synchronized to the centralized SCADA system, serving as a consistent data source for operational reports sent to headquarters—a single infrastructure that simultaneously resolves grid connection requirements in Vietnam and corporate management needs in Japan.

3
Early Anomaly Detection — Preventing Incidents Before Line Stoppages
Field data is continuously analyzed to identify early signs of anomalies: voltage fluctuations, load current spikes, and electrical panel over-temperature. Instant alerts are sent via SMS/Email to designated personnel following clear responsibility hierarchies—embodying the preventive risk management philosophy of Japanese enterprises. This enables technical teams to resolve issues before anomalies escalate into line stoppages that disrupt the supply chain.

A Partner Speaking the Same Quality Language — A Japanese Group Since 1950
Hino Systech Vietnam is a 100% Japanese-owned company under Hino Systech Japan, established in 1950 with over 70 years of experience.
More than 20 of our engineers have trained and worked directly in Japan, deeply instilling the quality control procedures, technical documentation standards, and working culture that Japanese FDI plants demand from their suppliers. For Japanese clients, partnering with Hino Systech means never having to "translate" your quality standards to your partner.
-
Synchronization from Field Level to SCADA — Proven at Japanese Plants in Vietnam
Hino Systech designs and takes full responsibility for the entire system, from field measurement devices, control panels, and Gateways, all the way to the SCADA Server.
For plants deploying solar power in accordance with corporate carbon neutrality roadmaps, the system supports Hybrid load-following algorithms for parallel operation with generators and the grid, independent anti-reverse power relays, and Zero-Export configurations fully compliant with Decree 58/2025/ND-CP. This capability has been actively proven at Japanese enterprises in Vietnam, including Sapporo Long An (~706 kWp, solar-generator-grid hybrid system) and THK Manufacturing Bac Ninh.

Transparent Data for Headquarters — Optimized Costs for the Plant
By automatically collecting and storing power data to replace manual logging, the system empowers the plant to transition toward data-trend-based predictive maintenance, effectively reducing operational expenses (OPEX) and unplanned downtime.
For the management team, electricity costs per production line and solar power yields are clearly quantified. This not only serves as a concrete basis for reporting emission reduction progress to the parent company, but also provides the necessary evidence to demonstrate investment efficiency and an accelerated Return on Investment (ROI) to corporate headquarters.
