ISO 50001 EMS/PMS Systems

Hino Systech Vietnam deploys EMS/PMS systems that provide continuous and traceable energy data, meeting measurement and performance evaluation requirements within ISO 50001 energy management systems.

Challenges facing your business

  • Data Requirements in Energy Management Systems

ISO 50001 sets requirements for periodic measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of energy performance. Enterprises that build an energy management system without a corresponding data infrastructure will face obstacles when establishing energy baselines, monitoring energy performance indicators (EnPIs), and demonstrating results during certification audits as well as periodic internal audits.

  • Disconnected Data Fails to Meet Periodic Monitoring Requirements

When energy data is recorded manually by shift or aggregated from monthly utility bills, enterprises lack granular data time-series to allocate usage across Significant Energy Uses (SEUs), cannot identify variables impacting consumption, and lack sufficient basis to adjust energy baselines when production conditions change.

  • Workload Involved in Data Aggregation and Record Maintenance

Maintaining an energy management system requires continuously updated and archived data, not just static snapshots during audits. When performed manually, labor hours accumulate with each period, documentation completeness depends heavily on assigned personnel, and aggregated figures become difficult to audit or verify during clarification requests.

Our approach

  • 1

Strategic Placement of Metering Points Aligned with Energy Usage Areas

The metering layout is designed according to the scope defined by the enterprise's energy management system, encompassing main grid connection points, Significant Energy Uses (SEUs), and specific load groups requiring dedicated monitoring. Data is automatically collected via field data acquisition devices and corresponding communication layers, with the Hino Gateway 378 handling multi-vendor protocol conversion.

  • 2

System Configuration for EnPIs and Energy Baselines

The system is configured based on the Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs) and energy baselines defined by the enterprise, alongside the monitoring frequency and scope of each indicator. Accumulated data is used to track indicator trends over time and benchmark against established baselines, supporting the "Check" stage of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle.

  • 3

Data Export for Audits and Reporting

The system stores continuous time-stamped data series and exports periodic metrics for internal audits, certification body audits, and other corporate reporting requirements. Every value in reports is traceable back to its origin metering point and corresponding time interval, fulfilling data verification requirements during audit procedures.

Hino Systech system solution details

  • Japanese Technical Capability in the Energy Data Layer

Hino Systech Vietnam is a 100% Japanese-owned enterprise under Hino Systech Group Japan (established in 1950), operating in Vietnam for over 10 years with more than 20 engineers trained in Japan. In ISO 50001 projects, Hino provides the metering infrastructure and energy data management system; management system development and certification assessments are conducted by the enterprise in collaboration with independent certification bodies. The metering topology is custom-designed according to the scope and indicator set applied by the client's energy management system.

  • Verifiable Data Down to Every Metering Point

Measuring equipment, data acquisition panels, communication layers, and EMS/PMS software are engineered and deployed by a single vendor, ensuring data chain continuity across all layers. Every value on the report corresponds to a specific metering point, device configuration, and recorded timeframe, fulfilling data verification criteria during internal and certification audits. Hino has deployed energy metering and monitoring infrastructure for large-scale systems, including LuxShare ICT (~20,048 kWp) and Vikohasan Ha Nam (3,200 kWp).

  • Shared Infrastructure for Multiple Management Requirements

Utilizing the same data source serving ISO 50001, enterprises can track regional electricity costs, supply consumption data for ESG and carbon emissions reporting, and evaluate the ROI of energy efficiency investments. Data updates continuously and exports based on required scope, replacing manual data consolidation prior to each audit cycle. Consequently, ongoing maintenance costs for the energy management system decrease while reducing reliance on specific personnel.
