Control Solutions (PV-BESS-GEN)
Hino Systech Vietnam builds a unified control layer for hybrid power systems: PV – BESS – GEN – Grid coordination logic customized to the actual operational scenarios of each plant, executed on control panels manufactured by Hino, and monitored via SCADA/OCC systems.
Challenges facing your business
-
Multiple Power Sources, No Safe Coordination Mechanism
Each power source in a hybrid system carries its own operational risks when coordination is lacking: excess solar power generation can feed back into generators, energy storage systems (BESS) charging and discharging at inappropriate times degrades battery life and diminishes ROI, and sudden generator load loading causes instability across the entire internal grid.
For grid-tied systems, controlling active power output in compliance with utility requirements is also a mandatory technical requirement—inverters cannot be allowed to feed power freely without centralized control.
-
Single-Vendor Controllers Only See Their Own System
Inverters operate on vendor-specific logic, battery systems rely on dedicated battery management systems, and generators use independent controllers—none of which are aware of the state of the other systems, nor the real-time load profile of the plant.
Consequently, operational decisions fall upon human operators: shift personnel must manually decide when to curtail solar power, discharge batteries, or start generators. In fast-changing scenarios—cloud cover, grid outages, or sudden load spikes—manual responses invariably lag behind real-time events.
-
Invested Assets Operating Below Full Potential
Power systems lacking an integrated control layer often resort to defensive operation: curtailing solar output as a precaution, leaving battery systems idle instead of taking advantage of Time-of-Use (TOU) tariff arbitrage, and running generators longer than necessary.
While each decision may seem reasonable from a safety perspective, their cumulative effect leaves capital investments underutilized—failing to deliver their designed return on investment while electricity bills and fuel costs remain high.

Our approach
-
1
Defining Operational Logic Prior to Equipment Installation
Hino engineers inspect the capacity and characteristics of each power source—solar system scale, battery capacity and discharge profiles, generator capacity, utility contracts and power tariffs, alongside the plant’s actual load profile.
Based on this data, the engineering team designs a comprehensive control logic matrix: source priority sequences per time block, safety thresholds to monitor, and automated system responses to grid loss, grid restoration, and solar generation fluctuations.
-
2
Integrating All Power Sources into a Unified Control Data Layer
Data and control signals from inverters, battery storage systems, generator controllers, and internal grid measurement points are connected through a protocol conversion gateway layer, centered on the Hino Gateway 378 device supporting Modbus TCP/IP and IEC 60870-5-104 protocols.
The essential prerequisite for coordinated control is ensuring every energy asset communicates with the central controller in real time using unified time-stamping.
-
3
Automated System Execution, Human Oversight and Optimization
Coordinated logic executes within control panels engineered, manufactured, and factory-tested by Hino prior to delivery, with a dedicated BESS Controller managing battery charge-discharge cycles.
All operational metrics are displayed on the SCADA/OCC system: real-time output per source, battery state of charge (SoC), and parameters approaching safety limits. Plant operators shift from making split-second manual decisions to monitoring system operations and fine-tuning control scenarios based on accumulated performance data.

Control Systems Demand Zero-Tolerance for Error
Hino Systech Vietnam is a 100% Japanese-owned entity, inheriting over 70 years of experience from Hino Systech Group in Japan (established in 1950) and more than 10 years of operational history in Vietnam, featuring over 20 engineers trained directly in Japan.
At the monitoring level, a data error merely affects a report; at the control level, a logic fault directly impacts live equipment under load. This is why Hino’s engineering protocols emphasize predictive risk scenario design, rigorous factory acceptance testing (FAT) prior to handover, and comprehensive documentation to ensure long-term system stability independent of individual staff recall.
-
Single-Source Accountability from Signal Acquisition to Control Commands
The complete engineering chain—signal acquisition from inverters, battery storage systems, generators, and grid metering points; protocol conversion gateways; control panels; and SCADA/OCC systems—is designed, manufactured, and backed by a single vendor. In hybrid power systems, this single-point responsibility is decisive: when anomalies occur at power boundaries, timestamp-synchronized data on a single platform enables precise root-cause event tracing, eliminating the need to cross-examine separate logs from three different suppliers.
This capability is proven through real-world deployments: the solar-generator-grid hybrid system at Sapporo Long An (~706 kWp), the solar monitoring and control system at Best Pacific Hai Duong, as well as large-scale installations at Luxshare-ICT (~20,048 kWp) and Vikohasan Ha Nam (3,200 kWp).

Maximizing the Strengths of Every Power Source
With a unified control layer, every energy asset performs optimally: solar generation is harvested to its maximum safe limit rather than prematurely curtailed out of caution; battery storage systems charge and discharge based on intelligent scenarios that factor in Time-of-Use (TOU) tariffs and two-component electricity pricing mechanisms under Decision 14/2025/QD-TTg;
Generators operate strictly at required output levels within optimal load bands, improving longevity and reducing fuel consumption per kWh. The return on investment extends far beyond system handover: accumulated operational data enables seasonal and production-driven control strategy optimization, proving performance gains through verified empirical data rather than estimations.
